Philip completed his studies at Durham and Cambridge University and came to international school management 15 years ago from an educational background in British independent school education and international EFL (English as a Foreign Language) working overseas in South America and Australia . For the last 12 years he has lead international schools in central London and has developed and designed many programmes and policies such as the celebration of diversity, internationalism, special education and environmental literacy. In addition, he believes in creating exciting educational journeys for all students and staff; journeys which challenge, stimulate and end up in places beyond expectations.

Skola – Travel and Learn Operations Manager

After managing my own school and working as international group manager in the travel industry, the possibility of putting the two experiences together in order to develop a new department within the Skola Group™, called “Travel and Learn”, was the most exciting job proposal I could have had back in 2002 when I arrived in London.

My Director and I share a passion for the natural world. The success of our first Environmental Literacy expedition to the Amazon Rainforest and Rio de Janeiro demonstrated that we could take the concept of the “outdoor classroom” to a diverse range of ecosystems.  We have since organized over 100 trips, allowing the opportunity for students and their families to become more aware of the importance of the conservation of the natural world, experience foreign cultures, meet and learn about local communities, challenge preconceptions, be tested physically and emotionally, as well as see some of the most amazing places.

The most rewarding aspect about being the manager of Skola - Travel and Learn is the impact and positive effect these educational trips have on students, parents and teachers alike.
