Italian Language Week

ICS Primary School group will be based in Taormina and Catania, both towns on the Aeolian Coast of Sicily and strategically chosen as to offer a variety of settings for our outdoor lessons and to integrate our children with local students and people of Sicily. We will meet our pen pals at their school and spend a week together visiting the region, learning about the local costumes and how to prepare typical food.  Students will have the opportunity to live like the Italians do and be very motivated to practice the language they have been learning in the classroom.

Activities: visiting a local school and sharing experiences with Italian children, vocabulary games, cooking lesson, making own Sicilian typical pottery, going to a traditional puppet theatre, mosaic workshop, task based visit to museums, exploring ancient archaeological sites, swimming, riding on miniature donkeys, nature walk, visit to a cave shopping. Tutto in Italiano!

Educational focus: Italian Language and Culture through the activities above, history, arts, PE, math and science.  A life skills programme with an individual educational plan (I.E.P.) is offered throughout the programme.
